Sarah and Derek hired me for their 2012 destination wedding in Newport at Belle Mer. Since I was hired over the phone, I had the pleasure of meeting them for the first time just recently. Working with them in the North End and waterfront was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about them as a couple. It’s always nice walking around my old neighborhood and seeing how it has transformed since the Big Dig. The night was quite warm and we even made a quick stop for refreshments.

I can’t wait to document the story of their Belle Mer wedding!

Heather & Mark aren’t afraid of the dark. Before they traveled to the city from Michigan, they looked into hiring a professional photographer for a shoot for their anniversary. They had planned to arrive late into the city and I suggested a night time shoot since I love how the colors turn out in low light especially when I opt to not use a flash. There are certainly challenges when shooting with available light at night but the results are always unique.

I had met Eynat and Ryan earlier this year when they were putting together details for their autumn Seaport Hotel wedding. During our meeting, I saw that they had a notably great connection together. When they decided to hire me as their wedding photographer, I was beyond thrilled because they seemed like such a cool couple. We met one night for a shoot in a neighborhood that both they had lived in together and I had lived in at various points over the last 10 or so years. We showed each other bits of “our” neighborhood that were significant and personal as we walked down the narrow and compact streets famed for shops and aromas that mimic life in a European village. We met at their old apartment’s red door in North Square and strolled through the streets. We stopped for laughs and stopped tThey sipped a shared bottle of root beer through red and white paper straws at the Prado, stopped for a moment at one of the wharfs, and went for a splash at the new Greenway. Part of me feels like I crashed the perfect date!

Arriving from Glasgow, Scotland, Bridget and Barrie had their destination wedding in Cambridge this weekend. They were so great to work with. Here’s a frame from just after their brief but memorable wedding ceremony. A few more photos are posted over at Heather Parker Photography on Facebook. I’ve got quite a bit of weddings to share with my blog subscribers. Thank you for your patience, its a busy time of year and I’m honored to play such an important role in documenting so many special weddings.

Wedding photography review from Bridget the bride:

I love Heather!!! She gave us exactly the photos we wanted to preserve our memory of our wedding. She was so professional and helped us find other wonderful vendors that helped make our wedding a success. I was planning the wedding from abroad and she was extremely flexible in having Skype meetings. Without Heather we would not have had the first class wedding team that pulled off our big day without a hitch!! I couldn’t recommend Heather more!

Unless you’re invited to shoot a destination wedding in the Caribbean or sunny California, its rare to have the opportunity to photograph an outdoor wedding ceremony without the worry of rain. A few days before the wedding, I started keeping an eye on the weather, crossing my fingers for sun. They were set to be married with the iconic Chicago skyline as their backdrop at the Adler Planetarium. I arrived to the hotel where Katie was getting ready, amidst downpours but I had a feeling the sun come through within a few hours. The bride and groom had an emotional first glance in the hotel suite before heading out for bridal party photos around town. The rain stopped just in time, and we made stops to some locations that were significant to them. The rain held out and we all made our way over to the Adler Planetarium for their ceremony. At this point, nobody was 100% sure the ceremony would still happen outdoors, but the weather did cooperate. The overcast skies made for what I call perfect “Nantucket lighting.” Their reception followed at the Adler Planetarium as well. By the time the sun was to set, the skies offered the best sunset of the year. The reception was filled with some great toasts and even a surprise visit by the Triallta Irish dance company to entertain everyone.
