Here is some Nantucket wedding inspiration if you are going for a nautical or seaside theme. Lots of navy and teal blue, paired with hot pink and orange flower arrangements. Lobster bakes and raw bars are popular options for either cocktail hour or receptions. Do you love the yellow striped wedding cake as much as I do?

Smith Barn at Brooksby Farm is the wedding venue Jenna and Jarrod chose to host their reception this coming spring. This awesome couple traveled into Boston for their engagement shoot on one of the hottest nights of the year, it was about 90 and felt warmer because of the humidity. We went all around the North End for their night time engagement session.

Sara and Paul will be getting married at Longwood Events Veronique. Ahead of their wedding, I was hired to photograph their engagement session. Sara had gotten her hair professionally styled and even though it was raining when we arrived to our shoot location, we opted to begin the shoot under a sheltered area, getting some dry shots. This was followed by photos of the couple playing in the rain along the harbor at the piers. Their pug dog joined us for the first half of the shoot before being taken home by their friend. I’m happy that Sara and Paul decided to go through with their date. It just goes to show that some of the best engagement photos can be had even if it is raining out. Thanks for being such troopers, I had so much fun on “Noodle Island!”
Which shot is everyone’s favorite?

Lately I’ve been looking forward to Whitney’s daily Facebook posts, since she has been sharing her experiences as a new resident of Naples, Italy. I will be photographing Ian and Whitney’s Boston wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in December. I met them earlier in the year while they visited Boston and we toured their wedding venue. Ian and Whitney actually lived in Chicago though. I wanted to do an engagement session for them so that they would have some photos to take to Italy with them of the city they called home. If you follow my blog, you know how much I love night photography as I feel that its a break from the typical engagement photos you see online. Do you like their night photos? I’d love to know your thoughts! Feel free to leave a comment below!

This shot is from a bit earlier in the shoot by the lakefront:

I traveled up to Smith Barn at Brooksby Farm for Ashley & Nate’s engagement session. After getting a Smith Barn wedding published in The Knot Magazine across four pages last season, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph at this rustic location many times. The couple had a rustic theme envisioned and wanted to bring their vintage Ford pickup truck and their pug dog as props. They also took a salvaged window to display their wedding date which will be used for their save the dates. I love when this kind of extra effort is put in to make a shoot that much more personalized and special. Along with wearing cowgirl boots, Ashley got her hair professionally styled by Boston wedding hairstylist Lindsay Griffin. Having a professional style your hair for engagement sessions gives that extra polished look, even if you are going with a casual or rustic look.

Location: Smith Barn
Hairstylist: Lindsay Griffin

You may remember that a photograph from a raining beach wedding was also featured on Moment Junkie.
