Chicago wedding vendors including florist Christine Noelle from Christine Noelle Design and Molly’s Cupcakes and myself as the photographer, teamed up on a professionally styled shoot this spring. The photo shoot was used for an advertisement in the popular wedding magazine Chicacgo Social Brides (also know simply as CS Brides) which hit newsstands on June 15th. Earlier this spring, Christine Noelle opened the doors of her fabulous, new floral design studio to set up a fun tablescape for the shoot. I arrived one early morning to see Christine working like a painter laying down an explosion of colors, using spring flowers as her tools. Cupcakes, assorted vases, tea cups imported from England, and decorative papers were also used. Christine transformed the perfect scene into a “mad tea party.” In the picture below, you can see two photographs from the shoot. If you would like to see more images from the photoshoot, click here.

one of my brides has a new nickname, jen the great. seriously! jen selected me as her boston wedding photographer this past summer. before her wedding, the engagement photos i took for her in chicago were featured on rock ‘n roll bride. when i find myself time after time getting engagement shoot requests against that same familiar skyline or in that oh so familiar tourist park, i can’t tell you how refreshing it is to get couples that want to shoot at a colorful mcdonalds, on abandoned elevated railroad tracks, or even in the couples’ loft apartment. jen is your quintessential offbeat bride in every way.

this afternoon i was informed by a client of mine that some photographs i shot of their wedding were in a contest on a website called The Knot. specifically it is a cake contest and the winning cake/photo gets published in The Knot Magazine. if you like the cake (or the photo for that matter!) go VOTE! it would be great to get another photo published and for my client shannon to win!

jen & grant were such fun clients to work with. when i first heard that they wanted to have me photograph them at a mcdonalds, i probably raised an eyebrow. after we corresponded a few times, i knew this shoot was going to be an interesting one. they really brought creativity to the shoot, arriving in colors that complimented the scene. i had a red umbrella lying around the house and thought it would be a nice addition as well. this is a true example how something that might seem completely ridiculous can turn out amazing. i look forward to photographing their wedding at the hampshire house in downtown boston this summer. from the client:
