i will be photographing lea and mark’s wedding in cohasset, massachusetts and we were lucky to be able to meet this week in chicago and do an engagement shoot. from the client:

Heather,

Thank you! Thank you!  Thank you! It was such an unexpected surprise to receive the link to our photos yesterday.  On the way home, I said to Mark that I’d be satisfied if we ended up with a half dozen that I liked “okay.”  Instead, we have over fifty that I LOVE!

Truly, I couldn’t be more happy with the photos you took.  I can’t believe that while I was feeling like a giant dork with my hair in my face, you were seeing and capturing such beautiful things.  I guess I have one more reason to look forward to the wedding– the photos!  Our moms loved them, and the ladies at school today were all ooh-in and ahh-ing!  I think they really capture who we are, too, if that makes any sense.  The one that made me laugh out loud was the one of our kiss with Derby between us, her looking completely and utterly disgusted with the whole thing!

Again, thanks SO VERY much.  If you can do this with an hour, I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with eight!!

I was selected to photograph a wedding at the University Club of Chicago (UCCO) this past weekend. It was definitely a day to remember – from documenting preparations in the bridal suite and billiards room, to capturing all the moments during the sunlit ceremony in Cathederal Hall, to the surprise bagpiper, and Ken Arlen and his orchestra covering music during the reception.

From the client:

“As a member of the University Club of Chicago, I was concerned that photographers not on the Club’s “recommended list” might lack experience at such a premier venue. My fiancée, on the other hand, was concerned that the photographers on Club’s list might not bring enough energy. We found a terrific balance in Heather Parker Photography. Heather is a ‘ten year start up’ in that she moved from Boston, where she shot at some of the most exclusive sites in the country… We were ecstatic with the results. Let me say that again, we were ecstatic with the results.‎”

Bride at the Boathouse

February 4, 2009

As the preferred photographer for the CRI Boathouse, I had the opportunity to photograph one of the very first weddings at Boston’s best new piece of architecture. Community Rowing Inc.’s newly designed Harry Parker Boathouse is a fresh addition to the boathouses that dot the Charles River. The structure is both innovative and bold. Banks of windows provide an amazing panorama of the river and offer exceptional natural light. The boathouse is a fresh, raw space serving as a suitable blank canvas for even the pickiest brides searching for unique venues. This “green building” is one of the few raw, loft-like event spaces available in the Boston area. For weddings, the facility employs Leigh Terry to facilitate space rental. Following a mass at nearby Trinity, William Meehan and Marie McMahon held their wedding reception at the CRI Boathuse, and chose me for their wedding photographer, and Amy Turell as their wedding planner.
