sam and abigail go together like peas and carrots. when i suggested to bring some personality to their engagement shoot they opted to bring along a frisbee and had fun playing a brief game in the park. abigail coordinated the outfits and the blue tied in very nice with the water and sky. i always recommend that my clients both gals and guys wear a matte translucent powder, like l’oreal translucide. it tends to reduce any shine due to sweat and oils on hot, humid days. i will be photographing sam and abigail’s upcoming wedding at the historic stan mansion.
update july 20, 2009, the bride abigail writes:
“Heather is our wedding photographer and we instantly connected with her when we met her over the winter. I appreciate how responsive she was in responding to my initial email and flexible in meeting with her. She recently photographed our engagement shoot at the Lakefront, which is included in her wedding packages and she did a great job. Though we had a bit trouble find each other in the massive park, she did not appear frustrated and ensured that we got ample opportunity for pictures in. I liked how she kept us moving around during the photo shoot and made us feel comfortable while getting our picture taken (not something we do everyday). She provided us with our pictures online and on CD almost instantly and we were very pleased with the results. We look forward to our wedding photos in a couple months.”

i met charlotte back in november when she hired me to photograph her october 2009 wedding. she and her fiance mike made time in their travel schedules to meet for a shoot before their wedding. the hour was full of natural smiles as i followed them around their neighborhood. i’m excited to know that these photographs will most likely make their way around the globe for friends and family to view, since charlotte is originally from singapore.

i met with kelly and patrick for a walk around their neighborhood today. it’s difficult to put into words how sweet & gracious these two are; just full of life, and really fun to be around. i will be photographing their wedding at a gallery in just over a month. i really enjoy shooting weddings at unique event spaces and rumor is that this particular gallery is filled with pop art which i love.

one afternoon this week, i photographed sohini & jeremy at the arnold arboretum. the weather was perfect. they were very interested in shooting at the arboretum as they have a fondness for the lilacs and even attend the lilac weekend event held at the park. we explored much of the grounds allowing a variety of natural surroundings to create interesting backdrops for photographing a couple.

i met with matt & karen for an engagement shoot last night. they chose to have an abandoned elevated track as the location for the shoot. we had a great time exploring the area the tracks ran above, and later went to shoot near some great public art. in addition to photographing matt and karen’s wedding later this month, i will be photographing karen’s good friend’s wedding this saturday. gotta love referrals! the remainder of matt and karen’s shoot can be viewed here.

my photography was recently featured on rock-n-roll bride.

jen & grant were such fun clients to work with. when i first heard that they wanted to have me photograph them at a mcdonalds, i probably raised an eyebrow. after we corresponded a few times, i knew this shoot was going to be an interesting one. they really brought creativity to the shoot, arriving in colors that complimented the scene. i had a red umbrella lying around the house and thought it would be a nice addition as well. this is a true example how something that might seem completely ridiculous can turn out amazing. i look forward to photographing their wedding at the hampshire house in downtown boston this summer. from the client:
Heather,
The pictures are BEAUTIFUL! I have already shared them everywhere possible. Everyone says they can’t wait to see the wedding photos! (Although, I’m not going to lie, they wont be as fun as these!)

i will be photographing lea and mark’s wedding in cohasset, massachusetts and we were lucky to be able to meet this week in chicago and do an engagement shoot. from the client:
Heather,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It was such an unexpected surprise to receive the link to our photos yesterday. On the way home, I said to Mark that I’d be satisfied if we ended up with a half dozen that I liked “okay.” Instead, we have over fifty that I LOVE!
Truly, I couldn’t be more happy with the photos you took. I can’t believe that while I was feeling like a giant dork with my hair in my face, you were seeing and capturing such beautiful things. I guess I have one more reason to look forward to the wedding– the photos! Our moms loved them, and the ladies at school today were all ooh-in and ahh-ing! I think they really capture who we are, too, if that makes any sense. The one that made me laugh out loud was the one of our kiss with Derby between us, her looking completely and utterly disgusted with the whole thing!
Again, thanks SO VERY much. If you can do this with an hour, I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with eight!!
Lea
