It couldn’t have been a more perfect afternoon for Karen and Bob’s wedding. I met them just weeks ago for an engagement session under some of the most windy conditions I have experienced. I arrived to Karen’s parents house where she was wrapping up getting ready. Her bridesmaids wore hot pink dresses which coordinated perfectly with their vibrant bouquets.vibrant hot pink wedding bouquets

As you can see below, the colors she chose were a saturated rainbow of complimentary colors such as pink, orange, green, and purple. I am seeing a trend in the use of such bold, exciting colors this year for bridal bouquets and bridesmaid flowers. We arrived at the church and the ceremony began with Bob patiently waiting for his bride. As you can see here, the church is modern and round, and light comes in through the ceiling rather than through stained glass at an altar. After the ceremony mass, we left on a trolley to go take some photos before the cocktail hour and reception.chicago wedding photographer using photojournalism

i love the sea (have we talked about this before?) and i am currently wrapping up edits on a coastal winter wedding. as a wedding photographer, i’ve been lucky to have had the opportunity to shoot some pretty awesome weddings near or overlooking the water – wedding venues such as the Harvard University owned CRI Rowing new modern Boathouse on the Charles River in Boston, the famed Hammond Castle in Gloucester, the newly built Duxbury Bay Maritime overlooking the bay, the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation in Waltham, MA, Cohasset’s historic 1704 Red Lion Inn. a few of my coastal weddings for 2010 include the White Elephant Hotel on Nantucket Island and Newport, Rhode Island Oceancliff Hotel.

many of my clients who have seaside or island weddings go with a navy or nautical theme. i am currently wrapping up edits on a wedding that was carefully decorated with a classic New England navy blue color theme. below are some photos of a wedding cake with a blue ribbon from the world renowned wedding bakery Konditor Meister.

This particular cake was a round, four tier wedding cake, covered in light ivory buttercream frosting with a wide navy ribbon overlaying a narrow champagne ribbon at the bottom of each layer and swiss dots decorating the entire cake. The top and bottom layer was carrot cake with cream cheese filling, the second layer was chocolate cake with oreo filling, and the third layer was gold cake with Grand Marnier filing and fresh strawberries. Are you hungry yet?

happy groundhog day! they’re saying six more weeks of winter. am i going to be able to stand it? i was catching up with laura sangster the other day who is one of the most popular destination wedding planners for the caribbean and we corresponded about the nature of wedding photography and destination weddings. “what is the trend in destination wedding photography?” i wondered. coming from an experienced planner laura noted, “the hotel photographers can not compare to a private photographer. period. i think the trend is towards budgeting more for a photographer than ever before.” she always has great advice ranging from featuring resorts on her blog to even compiling and shifting through the mis-information that abounds online in regards to international marriage license requirements. i have already pointed my destination wedding couples to her blog because it really is a go-to resource. i decided that it would be a good idea to introduce Laura to my readers. in these cold winter months, destination wedding requests couldn’t be more plentiful. Laura has helped over a hundred happy brides and grooms plan their dream weddings acting as a liaison between the foreign cultural traditions and customs in relation to weddings and the United States based brides.

How did you get started selling Destination Weddings?

When I decided to become a travel consultant, I knew I wanted to specialize in the Caribbean. I am very passionate about the region… about the stress free feeling one has when in paradise, so it was an easy choice for me. The Caribbean is synonymous with romance and soon my engaged clients began asking me to help arrange the travel for their destination weddings. Over the years, my involvement has swelled from simply booking airfare + hotel for wedding guests to helping brides find the perfect location for their dream wedding and being a full time sounding board for my brides on everything from local customs, reception menus, goodie bags and more.

What did you learn from planning your own Destination Wedding?

So much! The knowledge I gained from planning and hosting my own destination wedding at The Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, Jamaica for 120 guests, is invaluable. The most difficult part is finding the perfect location. I seriously considered 11 places and it took a few excruciating months to finalize our decision. I also learned how important it is to book your destination wedding photographer for the morning after your wedding too, put the dress back on and take advantage of the a.m. lighting for a few more photos. This is a growing trend!

What is the single most important piece of advice you share with your Brides?

To relax!!! It is important to remember that most suppliers a Bride will come in contact with when planning a Caribbean Wedding are based in the islands and they work on “island time”. This translates to longer than desired turn arounds on rate quotes and questions. I try to convince my Brides to see the beauty in their more relaxed way of doing business because there really is nothing we can do to speed up the process. As a travel consultant, it is my job to stay on top of the process and make sure none of the delays cause us to lose reservation space.

What is the biggest trend you are seeing for 2010 Destination Weddings?

For 2010 I am seeing the trend away from seashell themed weddings and the move towards simple, chic, and elegant. One of the more frustrating aspects of planning my own wedding was the difficulty I had in finding favors and décor that met my taste. Everything available at that time (2004/2005) seemed to be “made in china” with a hot glue gun. I didn’t know about Etsy.com and being a business owner, I had limited time to tap my own creative resources. For 2010, I am seeing more resorts offering a wider variety of wedding package themes. One big change for 2010 is the newly formed partnership of Martha Stewart Weddings and Sandals Resorts. Their joint wedding packages are very impressive.

for those of you who have met me to discuss wedding photography, you know how i always rave about style matters. here is where i explain my praise for them. have been to a ton of weddings and i know which djs get the crowd going without being annoying. spencer and the djs that are part of his company don’t mess up, they send the wedding guests to the dance floor without fail, and tend to play a cooler versions of recognizable songs and mixing in an appropriate amount of unique tracks. if spencer isn’t available on your wedding or event, don’t fret for even a moment. i have heard several of the other djs that work for style matters and the party is just as fun. when the party is fun, it makes my life easier because lets be honest, its more fun as a wedding photographer taking creative photos during a wedding reception when the dance floor is packed. i have had a chance to get to know the style matters crew, at weddings at gallery 1028, zed 451, the narnia estate, just to name a few. i am spotlighting spencer in an online blog interview below:

1. Introduce yourself:

Hello, my name is Spencer Lokken.  I’m a member of the Orchard Lounge DJ collective and I run Style Matters DJs (www.stylemattersdjs.com).

2. How did you get started?

Like a lot of people in their twenties, I wasn’t happy with my where my career was going.  I never had a healthy relationship with corporate America.  Despite a solid work ethic and proven track record, I left my job every day feeling unsatisfied, unchallenged, and uninspired.  Almost six years ago, intrigued by the wonders of Craigslist, I created a post offering my DJ services to people throwing high-end private events.  I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but at the time, I certainly didn’t have any hopes of creating a full-fledged company.  I just did it to keep from going crazy in my cubicle.  As my pop once put it, I quit working for the man and became the man.  Best decision I’ve ever made.

3. What do you think has gotten Style Matters to be one of the most successful DJ companies in Chicago?

Raw talent, attention to detail, creativity, our organizational skills, our willingness to take a chance, and the fact that I’ve assembled a team of some of the best DJs this city has ever seen.  I’ve put my heart and soul into this, as have the DJs on my team.  I think when you watch us spin, it shows.

4. What sets you apart from your competitors?

What competitors?  Kidding.  I suppose it has a lot to do with how knowledgeable, versatile, and dedicated the DJs are.  We are constantly driven by the feeling we get at 12:01am every Saturday night.  It’s pretty special to know that we’re an integral part of a celebration that our clients will never forget.

5. What is on your playlist this week?

Seven Saturdays – “Good Morning, I Love You”
Real Estate – “Fake Blues”
The XX – “VCR”
Toro Y Moi – “Blessa”
Emancipator – “Rattlesnakes”
Hot Chip – “Thieves In the Night”
Broken Bells – “The Ghost Inside”
Vampire Weekend – “I Think You’re A Contra”
Bat For Lashes – “Good Love”
Kings Of Convenience – “Mrs. Cold”

Come see what’s on all the DJs’ playlists next Friday, February 5th at Moonshine for our bi-monthly DJ showcase. Moonshine is at 1824 W. Division, Chicago near Damen & Division

full disclosure: Style Matters does not compensate me in any way. i don’t get anything except the joy of nudging you towards good resources. i don’t pay any money to be on anyone’s preferred vendor list, nor do i charge anyone to be mentioned in my blog or accept any money for mentioning anyone.

after lea and mark hired me to photograph their new england barn wedding, i met with them for some engagement photos in downtown chicago around springtime on the lakefront. they brought their black lab to include in some of the shots and we had a blast. since meeting them and working with them, lea has passed my name on to several brides. i am always so appreciative when clients pass my name along to others. word of mouth is where i get most of my work. before i share some of lea and mark’s wedding photos, here are a handful of their engagement photos:

it was really so fun working with them during the engagement shoot, and i couldn’t wait for the wedding. after previously photographing a wedding at the barn at gibbet hill, i found that i really enjoyed non-traditional wedding venues. while i wasn’t contracted to bring a second shooter, i could tell lea was planning a very cool wedding that was going to be taking place at a historic church and a barn, so i decided to bring along another photographer to assist. i had a few phone conversations with lea before her wedding and could tell already that many well thought out details were being put into action for this wedding.  when we arrived, lea showed us that barack obama declined her wedding invitation. bummer it would have been cool to get some shots of lea dancing with the president!

during our communication over phone and email before the wedding, lea informed me that she would be wearing the groom’s grandmother’s necklace.

we talked about the couple’s wedding day time line and realized that with a church ceremony running from 4 o’clock until almost 5 o’clock, there would not be much time for any outdoor photos after the ceremony with the sun setting so early in the winter. lea and mark had a “first look” before heading a few blocks down the road to the sea for some creative photos.

its worth being a trooper and making time for outdoor photos even in the winter. this gave the bride and groom some time together during their wedding day before splitting time with all their friends and family.

while the bride and groom live in the chicago area, they brought the groom’s pastor in from nebraska to their new england wedding. while not all churches are flexible to allow use of their space with another officiant, the couple found a great church willing to allow an out of town pastor to perform the ceremony. congregational churches in this area have the sanctuary on the second floor.

when i think of new england, quaint white steepled churches are some of the first things that come to mind.

after the ceremony, everyone headed over to the historic red lion inn for the wedding reception. in a picturesque seaside town, a combination of country french and new england colonial styles provided perfect ambience in a wedding reception venue.

the barn at the red lion inn had an upstairs lofted wrap-around balcony that was used for cocktail hour.

a consistent, navy blue nautical theme was used for wedding. paper goods such as table numbers, menus, and escort cards were designed by the Etsy seller BuddyandBean.

after cocktail hour, the newlyweds descended upon the grand staircase of the barn and immediately began their scheduled first dance.

the cake was from the famed konditor meister bakery

toasts and parent dances followed.

when i mention i shoot destination wedding photography, a lot of people assume . as fun as it is, and as glamorous as it sounds, shooting destination weddings is quite challenging to be honest! while many wedding photographers rely on a hotel or other wedding reception venue’s ceiling to bounce a flash off for additional lighting, there is not that option outdoors. with a fast arsenal of lenses and creative use of flash, magic can happen. while moon dance villas and moon dance cliffs resorts currently let their brides and grooms bring their own photographer, some of the big chain resorts build photography into their package and charge high fees to bring a photographer of your choice to your wedding. one of the more popular hotel chains in the caribbean offers photography packages with less than 45 digital negatives, so i can see why bringing your own photographer makes sense!

more often than not, hiring a photographer to fly to your destination wedding is the best option for when you aim for quality and want peace of mind both during and after your big day. photographs need to be edited after the wedding and having a photographer in your own country doing this makes a lot of sense opposed to trying to reach a photographer by phone in another country. while i think most photographers will jump at the chance to shoot a destination wedding, there are some important things to consider when selecting your photographer. i have made over 25 trips in 2009 for photo shoots. not all photographers are used to traveling with expensive equipment. one of the tiring aspects of doing destination wedding photograph for me is that in a foreign country, i don’t leave my equipment anywhere out of sight. i bring everything with me, everywhere. it is important to hire a photographer that takes the job seriously and one that knows the pitfalls of leaving any photographic equipment unattended. when i travel for shoots, i arrive early to make sure that if there are any airport or weather delays, i will still have time to make it to the shoot. i regularly follow the TSA website for updates on traveling and baggage restrictions, and know the importance of what types of photographic accessories should be hand checked by security agents. i also have insurance that covers me on international shoots. while it is inevitable that you will have some wedding vendors from another country, it makes sense to have at least one vendor who is from your home country who is familiar with destination weddings.

when i asked laura sangster, a travel consultant who is a destination wedding planner “what is the single most important piece of advice you share with your brides?” she said “to relax!!! it is important to remember that most suppliers a bride will come in contact with when planning a caribbean wedding are based in the islands and they work on ‘island time.” this translates to longer than desired turn arounds on rate quotes and questions. i try to convince my brides to see the beauty in their more relaxed way of doing business because there really is nothing we can do to speed up the process. as a travel consultant, it is my job to stay on top of the process and make sure none of the delays cause us to lose reservation space.”

this wedding below was taken at moondance villas resort in negril jamaica. it was during the same week i was hired to do architectural resort photography for moondance cliffs, their sister resort.

the couple was from chicago and incorporated many tropical elements to their wedding day. they also incorporated a few jewish traditions during their wedding ceremony on the beach such as standing under a chuppah and the breaking of the glass.

the florist that moondance resorts had available was familiar with what species of flowers not only looked good, but also could stay looking fresh and withstand several hours of a wedding. certain cut flowers wilt faster than others and an experienced tropical wedding florist has the right knowledge.

after the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds were congratulated by their guests and signed their jamaica marriage license.

the sun was setting quickly so i informed the newlyweds that it would be great to utilize the last few moments before the sunset to get some great wedding photos on the beach.

red stripe is jamaica’s famous beer and each guest had a bottle with their table number on it. cute idea!

the bride and groom were named melissa and mark and had monogrammed boxes at each place setting with candy inside for their favors. can you guess what type of candy they used? :)

i have seen moondance villas and moondance cliffs set up for events and they do a great job always.

aside from tasting great, moon dance did an excellent job with food display and presentation.

colorful paper lanterns and strings of lights illuminated the dancefloor. because the west end part of negril is away from city lights, the sky was dark and clear for stargazing.

as wedding photographers, sometimes its nice to be able to spend time with friends and family at important life events and to not have to pick up a camera. andrea contacted me last year looking to hire a wedding photographer for her omni hotel wedding. she mentioned that her then-fiancé lou’s uncle is a wedding photographer. when you have an experienced photographer in your own family, you know that even if they won’t be shooting your big day, you’re still going to get some good advice on selecting an experienced photographer. andrea and lou selected me as their wedding photographer and in the months leading up to their wedding, i learned that they were going to have their wedding at a church that dates back to 1686 loaded with history that includes a bell that was re-cast by paul revere. i can’t say i had shot in a church that old but i was excited! to top off my enthusiasm for this wedding, it was a greek wedding with many greek wedding traditions to be had throughout the ceremony and reception.

top photos from an omni hotel wedding

on the wedding day, i arrived to photograph andrea and her bridesmaids at the historic omni parker hotel. this hotel is loaded with history as it was the first hotel built in the united states, and was also where boston cream pies were invented. this hotel previously employed ho chi mihn, malcom x, and emeril lagasse. this hotel boasts some haunted tales, but my camera did not pick up any paranormal activity. i always hope i’m going to get some ghosts in my photos! while on a shoot in new orleans, i did stay at the magnolia mansion hotel that has been documented as being haunted. one of the photos i took inside the magnolia mansion is here.

okay, okay, back to the wedding! andrea had her wedding gown, shoes and rings easily accessible to be photographed while she was getting her hair and makeup done.

before we walked over to the church next door for the wedding ceremony, i documented andrea descending the stairs to greet her father, which was a very emotional moment for both of them.first look weddingfirst look bride wedding

even though the ceremony occurred after sundown, i wasn’t allowed to use flash in king’s chapel as they informed andrea “in keeping with the solemnity of the marriage ceremony, we would be most appreciative if you would make certain that your photographer and guests understand that there is to be absolutely no flash photography.” it was also great that there were no arms waving mobile phones into the aisle making attempts to get a shot of the bride, amen! i think every bride and groom deserve an unobstructed photo of the bride walking down the aisle so if you are reading this and are invited to a wedding, your iphone or blackberry shouldn’t make an appearance in church wedding photos, respect. :)

the crowns that are seen during greek wedding ceremonies are signs of the glory and honor with which God crowns them during the sacrament. the wedding crowns (stefana) are joined by a ribbon to symbolize the unity of the couple and the presence of christ who blesses and joins the couple. this establishes them as the king and queen of their home, which they will rule with wisdom, justice and integrity. the priest takes the two crowns and blesses the bride and groom, followed by placing the crowns on them. the koumbaro then steps behind the couple and interchanges the crowns three times as a witness to the sealing of the union.greek stafana koumbaro tradition

jackie is my favorite kind of bride. she wears shiny red shoes under her wedding gown and goes with a simple bouquet using just red. guess what color her trolley was. yep, you guessed it, red. the wine? red. actually mike ditka kick ass red wine. okay, okay you get the picture. though the jackie and mike did a “first look,” because of the limited amount of daylight at this time of year, after the church ceremony at saint alphonsus, it got dark outside very quickly. having to do creative wedding photos outdoors at night can sometimes have some advantages, such as having a sparkling array of city lights as a backdrop. i am really happy with the results.
from the bride:
“i’ve been so excited to see the photos, thank you sooo much for all your hard work on our wedding day.  we had a blast and i’m glad we can now remember more of the moments through our photos. we love the pics.  there’s so many that are truly amazing and totally capture the feeling behind the day.  they were well worth the wait.  i love a lot of the details shots of the flowers, the wine bottles, the table settings, the people signing the guestbook, the tiny flowers on the cake, etc.  the outdoor shots after the wedding turned out fabulous!  there’s nothing we appreciate more about living in the city is when we’re downtown and see all the city lights and the skyline and know that we live here…truly beautiful and those shots are my favorites!”

learn about photography:

bokeh happens when a photo is taken under certain lens conditions and creates certain aesthetic qualities in out of focus backgrounds. the reason i do this is to limit distractions and emphasize the important subject in a photograph. the two lenses i use that produce a nice amount of bokeh are my canon 85mm f/1.2 and my canon 35mm f/1.4. to the average consumer, these lenses are pricey, but you can get a similar effect with a 50mm f/1.8. both canon and nikon offer these little lenses commonly known as nifty fifties (or shifty fifties!) for around $85 dollars. its hands-down the number one starter lens for anyone picking up a digital SLR. if you happen to get a DSLR camera for the holidays, promptly toss the kit lens in the bin and pick yourself up a faster lens. fun fact: i won’t date anyone who uses a kit lens, and if need be, i will go buy a 50mm f/1.8. i still have my nifty fifty and have no plans on getting rid of it!

what about film? i love film. i have more film cameras than i do digital. film is cozy and familiar. i learned photography using film. i used a camera for five years that didn’t even take a battery. if you have a film camera tinkering around, i strongly recommend picking it up and reading up on some photography 101. when you shoot digital, you will have a better grasp on understanding manual photography. when i shoot film, i shoot less. it forces me to shoot for quality versus shooting for quantity. for me, its a needed exercise and good discipline for reminding myself to shoot for quality. the film cameras i use are medium format and take medium format film which means i get between 12 and 15 shots on one roll. its expensive, tedious, and rewarding all at the same time. when i was hired to do resort photography recently in jamaica, i took along one of my film cameras, my hasselblad 503cx. though the V-system cameras have been produced since WWII, my camera might be about 25 years old. old, but not ancient. i like the simplicity of it. during that particular architectural shoot, while i waited for the clouds to make way for sun, i sat down to clean my camera and lens. the employees of the resort watched as i took the camera apart in three easy steps. i took the film holder off, i removed the viewfinder, and finally removed the lens. “so basically its just a box?” one onlooker said? yes!

p.s. if i don’t update the blog before christmas, happy holidays! i worked on this wedding until the wee hours and plan to get through as many weddings as possible in the next few days!

the above photo was my one of my top wedding photos from this shoot. during this wedding, i saw some amazing light and snuck the bride and groom outside and were able to get some great shots right around sunset and the magic hour.

mary and steve hired me last year for their recent duxbury wedding. the couple met at boston college and while she grew up in florida, they decided to get married near boston since they both live and work in the area. the town they chose to get married is duxbury. it is often a choice as a destination wedding location because it is a charming new england seaside town rich with historic details and filled with so many natural elements including bumpus park, a wild life preserves and a quaint harbor. mary got ready at a rented cottage with the help of her mother, and twin sisters caroline and kathleen. at first, i didn’t realize there were twins and because they were already in their bridesmaid dresses, i momentarily was a bit confused how one person could be in so many places at so many times. i am bad at telling twins apart i guess.

before driving over to the church, i was lucky that mary allocated some time for some photos. there was a gorgeous backdrop of autumn leaves. new england is the perfect place for taking in fantastic views of foliage. this november 6th wedding got the tail end of the vibrant colors and we were lucky for such amazing backgrounds to work with.

mary and her groom steve chose to see each other before their wedding in order to make some time for photos. they are part of an ever increasing amount of newlyweds who choose to do a first look. first looks are basically a moment set aside to see each other on the wedding day, before the walk down the aisle. the first look is done alone, not in front of your wedding guests, and it is documented with photos. historically, seeing each other before the wedding has been a hot topic, but i am noticing more and more couples want to get photos done beforehand rather than skip out on guests midway during their wedding day. even though the first time you lay eyes on each other as bride and groom will not be in front of those close to you, the benefit of doing this is that before your wedding ceremony, you can budget time for photos and still have time to mingle with friends and family during cocktail hour later. having a first look during late autumn weddings and early spring weddings is something important to think about. this time of year, days are shorter and with less sunlight, the possibility for outdoor photos for afternoon weddings is sometimes slim.

mary’s aunt created all the floral arrangements for her wedding including this arrangement called the bells of ireland. this is popular in ireland and in the boston area due to the large irish american population. i have a lot of brides asking for information about incorporating irish traditions in their wedding so below is a photo of the flower arrangement. while this one was used at the church, i have seen these also used as centerpieces for tables at wedding receptions.

the wedding ceremony was at Holy Family Church at 601 Tremont St. Duxbury, MA  02332 (781) 934-5055

the wedding reception was held nearby at duxbury bay maritime school located at 457 Washington Street
Duxbury, MA 02332 (781) 934-7555

before the wedding, mary had sent me snapshots of the wedding reception venue as it was just being built. the smith building at the duxbury bay maritime school is part of a state of the art facility directly on the water. it made for picturesque views of colorful trees in the distance, while sailboats dotted the bay under the blazing sunset. if you are looking for a unique location outside of boston, or are considering a destination wedding but don’t want to deal with traffic in the cape cod canal tunnel or want to go far for a nantucket or martha’s vineyard island wedding, duxbury is a perfect option.

with the bay as a backdrop, mary and steve braved the brisk seaside breeze and the result was an memorable set of seaside wedding photos.

after cocktail hour, the newlyweds enlisted silent chef for a french style dinner service. with all the weddings i have photographed over the years, this was my first wedding i shot that was served in this manner. french style dinner service offers waiters that bring a large presentation dish of the food (whether soup, salad or entree) to the guests. often, the waiters continue to refill the large dish until the guest indicates they are done.

silent chef is located at 113 Front Street Scituate, MA 02066 and their phone number is (781) 545-6665.

mary and steve thanks for selecting me as your wedding photographer! both jim and i had so much fun shooting your wedding!

this fall, i was the wedding photographer hired to photograph naomi and andy’s wedding/vow renewal ceremony. the event was held at oak brook bath & tennis club over at 800 oak brook road in oak brook, IL 60523 (phone number is 630-368-6440). in the weeks leading up to the couple’s big day, they enlisted the services of chicago area wedding planner amanda from la ‘di events. because the bride had taken on a new job, juggled raising two young children, and was planning a wedding that was well over an hour away from her home, a day of coordinator made things a lot easier for her. amanda, the owner of la ‘di events kept the ball rolling and made sure all the details came together for the couple. naomi carefully put together a very fitting autumn color palette and did a lot of DIY wedding decorations to go alongside the fall-inspired centerpieces and decor created by kristen at kio kreations. before the wedding day, i touched base with amanda a few times to go over the time line of the day, and photo related information. on the wedding day, while i was photographing the bride getting ready, having her makeup applied by cynthia sally, amanda was at the wedding ceremony venue getting everything ready. on a chilly afternoon drizzling with rain, the day of coordinator made the important decision to hold the wedding ceremony indoors.

as la ‘di events is becoming one of chicago’s fastest growing wedding planners. i decided to feature la ‘di as part of a vendor spotlight.

1. Introduce yourself:

2. How did you get started?

It’s hard to really pinpoint how I started down the path to becoming a
wedding planner.  I have been planning parties for friends and family since
I was in High school. I always intended on starting my own business and
wedding planning was my ultimate choice. But what really kick started my
journey to start my own business was planning my sister’s wedding.  After
that all my friends looked to me for wedding planning assistance and I had
such a great time!  I knew this was what I wanted to do always.

3. What do you do on your weekends off?

Sleep in! Haha!  I actually usually try to schedule venue walk thrus and
consultations on Saturdays that I am off.  But if I don’t have meetings I
spend time with My Husband David and Peanut Butter our Yellow lab.

4. What are some of the most popular requests this season?

Black and white Damask and a bright accent color like hot pink or red.  I
actually had one 2009 client and three 2010 clients using this theme.

5. What sets your company apart from the competition?

We can accommodate every level of planning services.  We have Full, Partial
and Day Of Coordination Packages.  We have two Planners myself and my
Associate Aubrey. We have assistants available as well. We understand that
every client is different and we can be there to assist them with their
planning needs no matter if they are big or small.

here are some of the best wedding photos from naomi and andy’s big day where both myself and amanda worked alongside each other.
